Friday 7:30pm

Gary Porter drives the 30th Anniversary Grave Digger to a Double Down victory at the BI-LO Center.

Grave Digger swept all competitions Friday with a win in Wheelie and Freestyle competitions as well as racing. It did not come easy. Monster Mutt, Lil' Miss Dangerous is High Maintenance and Nitemare made it a tough one for the black and green wrecking machine.

Close competition was just part of the activity as Dave Rappach in Rap Attack began the night’s wheelie competition with a roll backwards. “I want to give the fans a great show but this was NOT what I wanted to do to start out the weekend. I was up in the air and before I knew it, the truck rolled backwards on itself. I think we just have some body damage but we’ll see,” he told the crowd.

Nobody can say for sure but the truck’s freestyle run was cut short by a broken sway bar. Things looked fine in racing and then the first :20 of freestyle is where the problem was noticed. Dave promised Rap Attack would be repaired and ready for action for the Saturday afternoon and evening events.

Other intense action on the track was Quad Wars with Team N. Carolina defeated S. Carolina. FMX was awesome and was the Fearless Flores Family in the Sphere of Fear.

Saturday’s Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam began with the Party in Pits at 11am. Fans came out early to see the Monsters up close and to meet the World Class drivers.

Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam began with the Wheelie Competition as all six competitors attempted to earn the highest score from the judges. Jocelyn Perrin drove her Lil' Miss Dangerous is High Maintenance truck to the win beating out crowd favorites Monster Mutt and Grave Digger.

Next came Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam racing and the surprises continued. Andy Hoffman had Nitemare dialed in and drove into the UTI Finals. Rap Attack was the fast loser in round one and drove on to the semi finals. When all was said and done Grave Digger driven by Gary Porter got the win. Porter, driving the new Grave Digger 30th Anniversary again won both racing and freestyle to Double Down for the second event in a row. As Porter called it "Double Double Down" and promised the fans that Saturday night he wanted to triple Double Down.

For the first time ever the Sphere of Fear and the FMX riders combined their events. The Flores Family rode their motorcycles in the Sphere then FMX came out jumping over the Sphere. Saturday 7:30pm

The third and final Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam at the BI-LO Center in Greenville, S.C. began with Gary Porter announcing to the fans that he had a feeling the night would lead to a TRIPLE Double Down. The feat had never been accomplished before by Gary and certainly never happened in the BI-LO Center.

Grave Digger got off to a great start with a win in the wheelie competition but it seemed to cost the Grave Digger team as the truck began to experience electrical problems. It was beginning to look like the Grave Digger dream was not in the cards. If I have learned anything in almost 3 decades of announcing Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam, it’s NEVER COUNT GRAVE DIGGER OUT.

Gary Porter and his crew worked between rounds of racing to keep the truck going and won the UTI championship.

In freestyle, Lil' Miss Dangerous is High Maintenance driven by Jocelyn Perrin scored a high 21 beating out Dave Rappach in Rap Attack, Andy Hoffman in Nitemare and Ryan Rice’s Incinerator before Whit Tarlton in Monster Mutt scored a 23 to take the lead.

Only one truck remained, Grave Digger. Gary Porter brought the black and green machine on the track hitting everything in his way. He took the mighty Grave Digger over the FMX landing ramp both ways bringing the entire crowd to their feet. In :60 Gary Porter and Grave Digger made history in Greenville with their third Double Down of the weekend.

FMX and the Fearless Flores Family again gave fans a reason to stand and cheer with a historic display of motorcycle action on the track, in the air and inside the Sphere of Fear.
